Every evening Twolight shows one question for the two of you. You write an answer that stays hidden on your phone until your partner answers too. Then both answers appear, you react, and the app suggests what to talk about. The daily question is free forever.

How does the daily question work?

The Tonight tab shows a card with one question and the keyword highlighted, for example What tiny moment with me felt meaningful lately? Tap Answer and write as much or as little as you like, up to 1,000 characters. Your answer is saved on your phone and stays hidden.

What does a first evening look like?

The whole thing takes a few minutes:

Open the Tonight tab and read the card.
If it does not fit, tap Swap this question. You can swap one question a day.
Tap Answer and write. A counter shows how much of the 1,000 characters you have used.
Tap Send it to your partner. The iOS share sheet opens, so you choose Messages or any other app.
When your partner sends their answer back, open the link in Twolight and the reveal appears.

How does my partner see it without an account?

Twolight sends the answer inside a link through the iOS share sheet, in Messages or any app you pick. Your partner opens the link in Twolight, reads the question, answers, and sends a link back. Each phone then holds both answers. Only the link carries data, and the part after the # sign is not sent to any web server.

What happens when both have answered?

The reveal screen shows both answers side by side. Twolight marks whether they match with Same answer or Different. Ask why, so a difference becomes a question and not a score. You can react with Love it, Ha, Hug, Wow or Thank you, star the answer, and tap Talk about it for a follow-up prompt.

What if my partner has not answered yet?

Tonight shows who it is waiting for, and your answer stays hidden. You can edit it for 10 minutes after sending, and Send the link again is there if the first message got buried.

Nudge sends a short note: Your turn on tonight's Twolight question. I'm curious what you'll say. You can nudge once a day, so it cannot turn into pressure.

Twolight has no server of its own, so nothing arrives by itself. Your partner's answer reaches you when they send the link back.

What if my partner is on the couch beside me?

Choose Answer together on this phone, or use couch mode to ask the question out loud. Nothing about the daily ritual requires two devices tonight.

Small controls that keep it kind

A few rules keep the ritual light:

Edit your answer for 10 minutes after sending.
Swap one question a day, and your partner gets the new one too if you send it.
Nudge your partner once a day with a gentle message.
Any ritual counts toward the streak: a question, a couch round or a Guess Me. Missed days are covered by free streak freezes, 2 a month free and 4 with Plus.

Who is the daily question for?

It suits couples whose conversations drift to logistics, couples on opposite schedules, new couples who want an easy way to learn each other and long-term couples who suspect they stopped asking. The questions come in light, warm and deep versions, and the depth tag on each card tells you what you are walking into.

If your partner does not have the app tonight, answer anyway. Your answer is saved on your phone and the screen reads Saved on this phone. Invite your partner whenever you like and compare then.

How is it different from texting a question?

A text question gets answered in order, so the second person sees the first answer and tends to echo it. Twolight keeps both answers hidden until both exist. It also picks the question, so nobody has to invent one, and it labels the result Same answer or Different without ever scoring you.

Your partner needs only the app and a tap on the link.

Where do old answers go?

The Answers tab lists every question with filters for All, Unanswered and Starred. Each entry opens a thread where you can add private notes. The free plan keeps recent history, and Plus opens your full archive with search and export.

What are the limits?

Both of you need Twolight to compare answers, and the exchange happens through links you send yourselves. There are no automatic notifications from your partner's phone. The free plan keeps recent history, not the full archive.

The daily question is a ritual, not a diagnosis. If answers keep ending in the same argument, the repair kit is the better tool.

Is the daily question really free?

Yes. The question, the reveal, the streak and the answers list are free. Plus adds two bonus questions a day and the full archive.

Can I see my partner's answer before I answer?

No. Answers stay hidden until both of you have answered, so neither is shaped by the other.

What if we disagree?

Twolight labels differences as Different. Ask why and offers a Talk about it prompt. It never shows a score or a mismatch percentage.

Can I change the evening time?

Yes. You choose your ritual time during setup and can change it in Settings, then Notifications. One gentle reminder is sent, skipped on evenings you have already answered.

What if we answer at different times?

That works. Your answer stays hidden until both of you have answered, however many hours apart that is.

Does the question change every day?

Yes. A new question appears each evening, and you can swap tonight's once a day if it does not fit.
