A date idea for tonight, matched to your energy
Twolight's date generator asks four things: where, how long, budget and energy. It returns one idea from a bank of 150, with why it works, three to five steps and a question to ask during the date. Free users get three ideas a week and Plus opens the whole bank.

How do I get an idea?
Open Explore, then Tonight's date, and set four filters:
Filters work together, so Home, Evening, Free and Cozy returns a different kind of night than Out, 2 hours, Treat and Adventurous.
- Where: Home or Out.
- Time: 30 minutes, 2 hours or Evening.
- Budget: Free, Low or Treat.
- Energy: Cozy, Playful or Adventurous.
What does an idea include?
Each idea has a title, a one-sentence reason it works, three to five short steps and a question for the middle of the date. Old photo stories, for instance, says each of you picks five photos from before you met, you show them one by one with a one-minute story each, and then ask: Which version of you in these photos would I get along with best?
The question is the part people tend to skip, and it is often what turns a fun activity into a conversation. Fridge rescue challenge asks What is the bravest dish you have ever tasted? and Candlelight power-off asks What do you miss about life before phones?
What does a worked example look like?
Set Home, 30 minutes, Free and Cozy and the bank can offer Old photo stories. Set Home, 2 hours, Low and Playful and it can offer Blind taste test: pick four snacks the other has not seen, take turns with a blindfold, and keep score of the laughs, not the points. Its question is What food tastes like childhood?
Change just the energy to Adventurous, keeping Home, 30 minutes and Free, and Fridge rescue challenge comes up. One filter moves you to a different evening, which is why the four filters matter more than the shuffle button.
What kinds of ideas are in the bank?
There are 150 ideas, 81 at home and 69 out. A sample: Blind taste test, Kitchen dance party, Fridge rescue challenge, Blanket fort night, Game show about us, Sixty second portraits, Letters to future us and Childhood movie swap. Twenty-seven of the home ideas are free to do.
How do I choose the four filters?
Start with energy, because it is the one you cannot fake. A tired couple forced into an adventurous idea has a bad night. Then set time, then budget, and decide at the end whether you want to stay in or go out.
- Cozy: low effort, soft light, little movement.
- Playful: games, silly challenges, a bit of noise.
- Adventurous: something you have not done together before.
Can I plan one?
Tap Plan it, choose Tonight, Tomorrow or This weekend, and Twolight reminds you on your phone. Send the plan to your partner through the share sheet. After the date, tap We did it and it is added to Our month.
Who are the ideas for?
Couples with a busy week who need a plan in one tap. Parents with a two-hour window after bedtime. Couples on a tight budget, since a free idea needs nothing but time. Anyone who has said "I don't know, what do you want to do?" three evenings in a row.
Free and Plus
Free shows three ideas a week, with a counter such as 1 of 3 free ideas this week. Plus opens all 150 and adds plan reminders. Shuffle gets another idea within the same filters.
Why not just search the web?
A web search gives you a list of fifty ideas and the work of choosing. Twolight gives you one, shaped by four answers, with reasons, steps and a question for the middle. Shuffle trades it for another within the same filters.
The ideas describe a format, not a venue. Twolight does not know your city, so you bring the park, the trail or the market. That is also why the same idea works in a small town and in a big city.
What makes a night at home feel like a date?
Three small moves do most of the work: set a start time, put the phones in another room and change one detail, such as the table or the lighting. Candlelight power-off and Floor picnic feast lean on exactly that. The idea supplies the activity, and the question for the middle gives the two of you something to say after it.
